Tiny Table Talks
At The Children's Table, our "Tiny Table Talks" offer a unique opportunity for children to engage in thoughtful, themed discussions. Each month, we focus on a specific theme, which is broken down weekly to allow a deep dive into different aspects of that topic. This structured approach helps children build a solid understanding of the theme while fostering curiosity and critical thinking. Inspired by our mission at The Table, which focuses on building micro-communities that bring people together, Tiny Table Talks encourage collaboration, empathy, and connection among our young learners. By discussing and exploring ideas together, children not only strengthen their cognitive skills but also build relationships in a supportive, community-driven environment.
Upcoming Themes:
January: The Purge
Week 1: Greed – Learning to Share
We’ll use stacks of pretend money to talk about how it feels to keep everything for yourself versus sharing with others. We’ll learn that being generous helps us grow closer to God, just like the Bible says in Luke 12:21.

Week 2: Gluttony – Taking Too Much
With a bowl of candy and a bowl of fruit, we’ll talk about why eating too much of anything, even healthy food, isn’t good for us. We’ll learn how to take care of our bodies because they are special, just like it says in 1 Corinthians 3:16-17.

Week 3: Envy – Being Happy for Others
We’ll look at a picture of a cool car and have some fun when a volunteer acts jealous. We’ll talk about how envy can hurt friendships and learn how to be happy with what we have, guided by James 3:14-15a.

Week 4: Pride – Lifting Others Up
We’ll see a picture of someone showing off their skills and talk about how it feels when someone brags too much. We’ll learn about balancing pride and being humble, just like the Bible teaches in Philippians 2:3.
Each week, we’ll practice reading scripture to help us become more kind, thoughtful, and closer to God.
